It seems that in Russian Engels, Saratov region, everything is just beginning. The city, from where a terrorist country regularly launches strategic missile carriers to attack Ukrainian cities, was attacked by drones.
On the morning of January 8, the oil depot of the Kristall plant, which supplies fuel to strategic aviation at the Engels-2 airfield, was hit.
Several Russian telegram channels publish a video taken on a phone from afar with a powerful flash and a column of fire and smoke.
It’s loud again over Engels. The second tank at the oil depot exploded, writes the Russian monitoring channel Prigranichye.
The oil depot began to burn again. It seems to be burning even hotter than in the morning,” reports the local telegram channel “Engels Online” and publishes several videos of fires.
By defeating the oil depot in Engels, the Ukrainian Armed Forces could have left strategic Russian Tu-160s without fuel.
Defense Express writes about this.
When it comes to fuel for aircraft based at Engels Air Base, we are talking about the Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers of the 22nd Heavy Bomber Air Division.
And if the Tu-95MS uses conventional types of aviation fuel (T-1, TS, RT), then the Tu-160 requires a specific high-density T-8B fuel, analysts write.
The production of this fuel is a rather specific process, which is not carried out at every oil refinery.
For example, during the USSR, only two petrochemical plants produced high-density fuels – in Angara and Orksk.
So if it was possible to hit the tanks with this particular fuel, this could, to a certain extent, “land” the Tu-160.
True, Russia actually does not use them for attacks on Ukraine – the first time this happened during the attack on November 17, 2024.
