Denmark responds to Trump’s desire to acquire Greenland

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen responded to newly elected President Donald Trump’s statements about the annexation of the Danish island of Greenland and emphasized that the island belongs to its inhabitants.

Trump has repeatedly said he wants to annex the island to the United States, but Frederiksen insists: Greenland belongs to its inhabitants.

“I want to make it clear: Greenland belongs to its people, and the Danish government cannot have a different opinion,” he said in a comment to Berlingske.
