Trump will take the oath of office on January 20, after which he will officially be considered the 47th president of the United States.
The Congress of the United States has officially confirmed the victory of Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. CNN reported this on Monday, January 6.
“Congress officially certified Trump’s victory in the presidential election, and the counting of votes in the Electoral College went smoothly, without any objections or disturbances,” the journalists said.
In a special session of Congress, the current Vice President of the US, Kamala Harris, who led the process as the head of the Senate, announced the certification of the number.
“Under the law, this declaration will be considered final or, from a legal perspective, will be considered a sufficient declaration by the persons elected president and vice president,” CNN explained.
Trump and Ohio Senator JD Vance won the election with 312 popular votes. Harris and his running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, received 226 popular votes.
Previously, current US President Joe Biden called on Americans to remember the events at the Capitol on January 6, 2021 and emphasized the need to prevent the recurrence of such threats in the future.
Trump complained that American flags would be flown at half-staff at his inauguration because of Carter’s death on Biden’s orders.
