7.1 magnitude earthquake rocks Tibet, killing dozens

In the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, near the border of Nepal and India, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 occurred on the morning of January 7. More than 50 deaths are already known. This was reported by Xinhua.

It was learned that at least 53 people died due to the earthquake, and more than 60 were injured. Rescue operations are ongoing in the area, so the death toll may rise.

About 1,500 firefighters and rescuers were involved in searching for people from the ruins.

As a result of the earthquake, serious damage was recorded in the region, resulting in huge material losses.

According to seismologists, the epicenter of the earthquake was 181 km north of the Indian city of Darjeeling, approximately 87 km northeast of Everest.

We remind you that in Vanuatu, as a result of a strong earthquake, 14 people died and 200 were injured.
