Olaf Scholz won’t win Elon Musk’s favor and he reminds the rule – don’t feed the troll.
American businessman Elon Musk’s support for the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) is alarming. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said this in an interview with Stern, published on Saturday, January 4.
He said he did not take into account the criticism of his work and other politicians from Musk.
“What worries me the most is not these grievances, but the fact that Musk supports a party like Alternative for Germany whose program is part of far-right extremism that promotes rapprochement with Russia, which wants to weaken transatlantic relations says.
Scholz responded to many of Musk’s other statements. In particular, the billionaire called German President Franco-Walter Steinmeier an “undemocratic tyrant.”
“The Federal President is not an anti-democratic tyrant, and Germany is a strong and stable democracy that can say what it wants. In Germany, the will of the people is important, not the unstable statements of a US billionaire,” he emphasized.
Scholz said he would not invite Musk to a meeting in his office.
“I don’t think about winning the favor of Mr Musk. I’m happy to leave that to others. Many people on social media like to attract attention with blatant slogans. The rule is: don’t feed the troll “said the chancellor.
Recall that Musk called Scholz an “idiot” after the collapse of the coalition in Germany. In addition, the businessman suggested that it seems only the AfD is capable of solving the problems facing Germany. These statements come amid preparations for parliamentary elections in Germany scheduled for February 2025.
