The court continued the preventive measure against the accused of murdering Irina Farion.
At the request of prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the Shevchenko District Court of the city of Lvov extended the preventive measure for Vyacheslav Zinchenko, accused of the premeditated murder of Irina Farion, will be held in custody without the right to bail for another 60 days – until March 4, 2025 inclusive.
The meeting took place in the Shevchenkovsky District Court of Lvov. The court hearing did not start on time due to reports of “mining” at the Shevchenko District Court, but no explosives were found.
The young man was detained at home in Dnipro in July 2024 and has been in custody since then.
Let us remind you that Zinchenko was charged with the intentional murder of a person in connection with the performance of his public duty, based on national intolerance, as well as the acquisition, carrying, storage of firearms without permission provided by law (clause 8, 14, part 2, article 115, part 1, art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The indictment has been sent to court.

The investigation established that on July 19, 2024, in Lviv, the accused shot the victim with a pistol from a distance of about two meters and fled the scene. The woman died the same day from a penetrating gunshot wound to the head in hospital.
The prosecutor’s office claims that the evidence confirms that the murder was committed due to the victim’s fulfillment of a public duty and on grounds of national intolerance.
The accused expressed his belief in “national discrimination against Ukrainian citizens who communicate in Russian.” Irina Farion, who was known for her position on protecting the Ukrainian language and culture, allegedly splits national unity with her actions. On the basis of which the defendant had the intent to kill her.
