The presence of peacekeepers on the territory of Ukraine does not exclude the upcoming entry into NATO, the Ukrainian head of state explained.
Ukraine supports the idea of deploying European forces, but the presence of peacekeepers should not include the prospect of NATO membership. President Vladimir Zelensky said this in an interview broadcast on the national telethon on Thursday, January 2.
“I think you have heard about the initiative of President Macron to place a contingent of the French Republic on the territory of Ukraine And we support an initiative, but France alone is not enough. It must definitely be towards NATO No this means that the deployment of European Forces does not include a future in NATO,” explained the head of state.
According to him, the sending of a European contingent can be supported by Great Britain, “and some other countries that we have agreed not to discuss, because they are still afraid to say it to the media, because they are afraid of Russian influence. “
Earlier, Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine’s invitation to NATO should extend to the entire territory of the country within the framework of internationally recognized borders.
