A group of homeless people planned to spend the night in this carriage, but then it caught fire. The investigation is currently underway.
A fire that broke out in a carriage at the Central Railway Station in the capital Sofia on the night of December 31 claimed the lives of four people. Two other victims are in the hospital. This was reported by the local news agency BNR with reference to the police.
A group of homeless people entered an empty carriage on the tracks of the Sofia train station, where they planned to spend the night. However, the carriage then caught fire, killing four people. Two others, aged 65 and 35, are in hospital in serious condition due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
The Sofia prosecutor’s office is working on all possible versions of the incident – both intentional action and accidental arson. Investigators added that they have interviewed witnesses, examined the scene of the incident, taken evidence and ordered an examination.
In addition, two people are in jail because of the fire, but it was not specified if they have been charged.
Ivaylo Haralampiev, responsible for internal security of the Bulgarian Railway, said that the carriage where the homeless wanted to spend the night was locked, so it was not yet clear how they got into it.
We remind you that there was a fire at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, where all visitors had to evacuate. Rescue services arrived on the scene, began to extinguish the fire, and tourists were removed from the famous symbol of the French capital.
