The targets of the attack were the command post of Iran-backed militants, weapons warehouses and air defenses.
The US military has carried out a series of attacks on Houthi targets in Yemen. This was announced by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Wednesday, January 1.
It indicated that “several targeted” strikes were carried out on December 30 and 31. US Navy ships and aircraft attacked a Houthi command and control facility and advanced weapons production and storage facilities, including missiles and drones.
“These facilities have been used in Houthi operations such as attacks on US Navy warships and merchant vessels in the southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden,” the report said.
The US Navy and Air Force also “destroyed a Houthi coastal radar station and seven cruise missiles and a UAV over the Red Sea.”
CENTCOM assured that “in both incidents” there were no injuries to American personnel or damage to equipment.
The military added that the strikes were “part of an effort” to reduce the ability of Iran-backed militants to threaten US regional partners and military and commercial shipping in the region.

Let’s remember that in December the US military shot down its fighter in the Red Sea as a result of “friendly fire”. An F/A-18 Super Hornet based on the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman was accidentally hit by the guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg from the same strike group. Both pilots survived.
