The attacker met the woman on Facebook in September 2024 and assured her that he was “on a mission to Ukraine.”
An elderly resident of the Liberec region in the northern Czech Republic lost 300 thousand kroner (more than 12.3 thousand dollars) to a fraudster posing as a doctor “stationed in Ukraine.” This was reported by the local publication Novinky.
The attacker met the woman on Facebook in September 2024. They first communicated on social networks, and then on WhatsApp. The man assured the woman that before he “worked in Ukraine” he lived in London with his parents.
In early October, the “doctor” asked the woman for a favor – take her personal documents and jewelry for safekeeping so that they don’t get lost in Ukraine, and asked to pay 300 thousand Czech crowns for “transportation”.
“He realized that he was the victim of a fraudster after Christmas and filed a criminal complaint against him,” said Ivana Balakova, a spokeswoman for the Czech Republic’s police in the Liberec region.
Law enforcement officers noticed that the 62-year-old woman had lost all her savings and also had a debt of 130 thousand Czech crowns with interest.
As already reported, in the Dnepropetrovsk region, the commander of one of the military units and the head of the business arranged the purchase of low-quality military clothing for 200 million Hryvnias.
