Cecilia Sala’s case may be related to the recent arrest of an Iranian citizen in Milan at the request of the United States.

Iranian authorities have confirmed for the first time that 29-year-old Italian journalist Cecilia Sala has been arrested for “violating the laws of the Islamic Republic.” The BBC reported this on Monday, December 30.

It was noted that a representative of the US State Department said that the case of Cecilia Sala may be related to the recent arrest of an Iranian citizen in Milan at the request of the United States.

On December 16, Iranian citizen Mohammad Abedini was arrested in Milan on charges of supplying electronic components for Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) drones. His actions led to the deaths of three American soldiers. The US is now seeking Abedini’s extradition from Italy.

A US State Department spokesman said the Italian journalist was being used as “political leverage.”

We remind you that last Friday the Italian Foreign Ministry reported that Italian journalist Cecilia Sala, reporting from Iran, was arrested on December 19 by Tehran police.

Before this, the famous singer Parasta Ahmadi was imprisoned in Iran for violating Sharia law.
