In the Lviv region, a four-year-old girl was injured as a result of an accidental shot from an air rifle. A bullet hit the child in the head. The press service of the National Police reported this on Monday, December 30.
The incident took place on December 28 in the city of Sambir. Two children – a six-year-old boy and his four-year-old cousin, while at their grandmother’s house, found an air rifle in the barn and started playing with it. The rifle fired, causing the girl to suffer a head wound.
The child was hospitalized, while there was no threat to his life.
Law enforcement officials seized a foreign-made air rifle of 4.5 mm caliber and sent it for analysis.
Criminal proceedings are opened for malicious failure to fulfill child care responsibilities. The article provides for up to five years of restriction or imprisonment.
