    The commander of the 211th pontoon-bridge brigade, who covered up the abuse of soldiers, was detained and a new suspicion was reported.

    .

    The press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General reported this today, December 29.

    It is noted that the brigade commander was informed of suspicion regarding the inaction of military authorities, committed under martial law or in a combat situation (Part 4 of Article 426 of the Criminal Code).

    According to the investigation, the suspect did not react to the facts of inhumane treatment and torture of servicemen subordinate to him:

    • from February to July 2024, he knew that the platoon commander subordinate to him, exceeding his authority, abused his subordinate soldiers;
    • however, the brigade commander did not initiate the issue of bringing the officer to justice.

    Law enforcement officers conducted searches at the residence of the brigade commander. Now he is detained, the issue of choosing a preventive measure for him is being decided.
