Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico recently announced his intention to stop electricity supplies to Ukraine in response to the cessation of gas transit.
In this regard, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko has already addressed a letter to the EU Energy Commissioner, ENTSO-E and the Energy Community, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reports.
Galushchenko notes that such a decision would be a gross violation of European regulations.
The minister also noted that Ukraine has a mechanism to replace imports from Slovakia with other neighbors who are ready to increase their respective capacities. According to him, similar negotiations with partners have already been held.
He emphasized that the only reason for the import of electricity from Slovakia at all is the actions of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, which occupied and destroyed part of the generating capacity.
We must understand that the import of electricity, as our president very clearly said, is a consequence of the fact that Russia has occupied the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant and has been systematically destroying generation in Ukraine for three years now,” Galushchenko concluded.
