The Russian invaders, starting in August 2024, changed the tactics of their massive missile and drone attacks on Ukraine.
They are now launching larger, less frequent attacks instead of the frequent, smaller attacks typical early in the year, and are likely using the time between strikes to build up supplies. The British Ministry of Defense announced this today, December 28, on its page on the social network X, citing intelligence data.
The department notes that the list of targets of the Russian attack on December 12-13 was similar to the preliminary attacks:
- the attack was aimed at critical national infrastructure and industry in Ukraine;
- the attack also attempted to overwhelm Ukrainian air defenses with a large number of drones.
In addition, Russia retains the ability and reserves to allow the use of such funds in smaller quantities as a punitive measure, with virtually no warning, the agency added.
