Alexander Kalyaninov, who became the co-pilot of the Embraer E-190 aircraft of Azerbaijan Airlines, graduated from the Ukrainian State Flight Academy three years ago.
The pilot who flew the Azerbaijan Airlines plane that crashed on December 25 in Kazakhstan studied at the Kropivnitsky Flight Academy. This was announced on the Facebook page of the educational institution on Friday, December 27.
They noted that since childhood Alexander Kalyaninov dreamed of becoming a pilot, like his father and connect his life with the sky.
In 2021, he received a master’s degree in aviation transport from the Ukrainian State Flight Academy (then NAU Flight Academy).
The man studied at the Faculty of Flight Operations under the program “Flight Operation of Aircraft” and received the qualifications “Pilot Engineer” and “Research Engineer”.
“Alexander was very intelligent, intelligent, fluent in many foreign languages, very honest and always ready to help in the plane crash, risking his own life, he saved dozens of lives in the line of duty,” the academy wrote.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijani media reported that Kalyaninov also graduated from the Baku European Lyceum.
We remind you that on December 25, an Azerbaijan Airlines plane crashed in Aktau, Kazakhstan, flying on a Baku-Grozny flight. 38 people died then. There were a total of 67 people on board, mostly Azerbaijani citizens.
The previous day, the media reported that the plane was attacked on approach to Grozny by a missile from the Pantsir-S anti-aircraft system. The Russians barred crews from landing at Russian airfields and jammed electronic war communications. They expect the plane to crash into the Caspian Sea, sources said. But he managed to fly almost 500 km – to Aktau.
