Large-scale sabotage at Ukrzaliznytsia facilities was planned to be carried out by an agent network of the Russian game, which was exposed and neutralized by the counterintelligence of the SBU.
The attackers had an “order” for a series of railway explosions, due to which weapons and equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine were delivered to the front, the press services of the SBU and the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office reported.
According to the case file:
- The recruited person turned out to be a resident of Rovno, who worked for the 316th intelligence center of the main directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces (better known as the game), which is stationed in Crimea. The husband had previously been convicted of human trafficking and was on probation;
- the agent acted as part of a network that included two more traitors who are now hiding on the temporarily occupied peninsula;
- the organizer of the network was 43-year-old Roman Yakimchuk, and the “connector” who looked for and assigned the task to the agent was former Ukrainian law enforcement officer Alexander Ignatiev, who was fired in 2014 for corruption and drunkenness;
- to work with an agent in Kyiv, Yakimchuk and Ignatiev submitted a request to the Russian Federation game for 100 thousand dollars. USA. At the same time, they promised only 40% of this amount directly to the agent in the capital of Ukraine. Yakimchuk and Ignatiev planned to distribute the remaining funds among themselves, hiding this fact from the leadership of Russian military intelligence;
- On the instructions of the curators, the suspect arrived in Kharkov and, using the coordinates provided, found a cache of weapons – an RPG-7 hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher and ammunition for it. use for explosive activities on the territory of Ukraine;
- in September 2024, the suspect received a new task from Russian representatives – to commit sabotage on the railway in the western regions of Ukraine. It is this message that follows trains carrying civilians, as well as humanitarian cargo;
- Having a good understanding of this region, the resident independently chose the location of the sabotage – the railway track near the location of the Tarakovsky Fort defense structure, as well as the places where he planned to place hidden video cameras to record the sabotage. According to his plan, the train should derail – this would lead to the destruction of the railway track, the train itself and damage to the cargo.
It is noted that thanks to proactive work, it was possible to detain an enemy agent who was preparing to derail the first train:
- to commit sabotage, the defendant was preparing a homemade brake “shoe”, which should cause the train with ammunition of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to go off the track;
- To record this crime on video, the agent placed several cameras around the railroad tracks, which were disguised as bird nests and were supposed to record the sabotage in real time.
All three defendants were reported on suspicion in accordance with the crimes committed under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 2 Art. 111 (high treason committed under martial law);
- Part 1 Art. 14, part 4 art. 27, part 2 art. 113 (preparation and incitement to commit sabotage under martial law);
- Part 1 Art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives).
Yakimchuk and Ignatiev were declared suspects in absentia. The detained agent is in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property, the SBU added.
