The document will be signed in mid-January during the Iranian leader’s visit to Moscow. Tehran is hoping for a Russian gas transport agreement.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will arrive in Moscow on January 17 to sign a cooperation agreement between the two countries with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. This is what the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Russia, Kazem Jalali, said, Tasnim agency reports.
According to him, the countries are ready to sign a “comprehensive” cooperation document.
Tehran hopes that the transportation of Russian gas to Iran will be part of one of its important economic plans, which will be completed in the near future:
“The Ambassador said that he considers the bilateral relations between the people as the most durable and effective, and mentioned the need for the activity of Iranian businessmen in Russia, noting that the presence of Iranian businessmen and private sector in Russia will greatly contribute to the development of economic relations between the countries.”
It was previously reported that the Iran deal had been in the works for several years, and the Russian Foreign Ministry announced at the beginning of 2022 that a “major new interstate agreement” had been completed, without providing details.
The media also reported that Iran’s nuclear program is military-oriented. Information from the intelligence services of the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany and Denmark indicates that Tehran has plans to create nuclear weapons.
