Parliament called for the perpetrators to be brought to justice and compensation to be paid.
Azerbaijani Parliament member Rasim Musabekov said that the Russian side should apologize for the attack on an Embraer E190 passenger plane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines. He said this in a comment to the Turan news agency.
According to him, in Russia, some are trying to “cover their tracks” instead of apologizing.
“The plane was shot down on Russian territory, in the sky over Grozny And it is impossible to deny,” said Musabekov.
He called for the perpetrators to be brought to justice, as well as the payment of compensation to the victims and victims’ families. The MP added that this is exactly what Azerbaijan did in the 44-day war in 2020, when its forces shot down a Russian military helicopter.
We remind you that on December 25, an Azerbaijan Airlines plane crashed in Kazakhstan. 38 people died then. There were a total of 67 people on board, mostly Azerbaijani citizens.
The media, citing sources in the Azerbaijani government, wrote that the Russians attacked the plane on the approach to Grozny with a missile from the Pantsir-S anti-aircraft complex, and then prohibited it from landing at Russian airfields and jammed electronic war communications.
