An Embraer 190 aircraft of the Azerbaijani airline, flying from Baku to Grozny, was shot down by a Russian air defense system today, December 25.
The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Andrey Kovalenko, announced this in his Telegram channel.
Russia should have closed the airspace over Grozny, but did not.
Let us remind you that today, near the city of Aktau located in western Kazakhstan, a passenger plane of Azerbaijan Airlines, flying from Baku to the Russian Grozny, crashed. There were 67 people on board the plane, 38 of them died.
Initially there were reports that the plane crashed due to a bird strike. However, subsequently, videos of the last minutes of the Embraer 190’s flight and characteristic damage to its hull appeared on the Internet, which likely indicates that the aircraft was hit by an anti-aircraft missile and its gradual loss of controllability.
