Moldova confirmed the flight of a Russian missile over its territory.
Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that during today’s attack on Ukraine, a Russian cruise missile violated the country’s airspace. She made the corresponding message on December 25 on the social network X.
While our countries celebrate Christmas, the Kremlin chooses destruction – targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and violating Moldova’s airspace with a missile. These are actions that clearly violate international law. Moldova condemns these actions and fully stands in solidarity with Ukraine, the statement said.
At the same time, Romania denied information that a Russian cruise missile was in their airspace. The country’s Ministry of Defense said that Kyiv informed Bucharest that at about 7:30 a missile from the aggressor country, which was supposed to strike the Chernivtsi region, was supposed to pass through the airspace of the Republic of Moldova and, within about two minutes, through the air space of Romania.
According to monitoring data from Romanian air surveillance systems, as well as data provided by NATO countries, the crossing of Romanian airspace was not confirmed, the Romanian defense department noted.
This morning the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced the flight of a Russian missile through Moldova. And monitoring channels reported that the missile flew into Romania. The corresponding information was confirmed on the social network X by Foreign Minister Andrei Sibiga.
Let us recall that on the morning of December 25, Russia attacked Ukraine with cruise missiles from Tu-95MS strategic bombers, Kalibr-type cruise missiles from the Black Sea and ballistic missiles from Russian territory.
