A plane crash occurred in Kazakhstan – an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane crashed.
The aircraft, flying from the Azerbaijani capital Baku to the city of Grozny in Russia, crashed near Aktau. Due to fog in Grozny, the plane was redirected to Makhachkala and then to Aktau. This was reported by the local publication Tengrinews with reference to the government of Kazakhstan.
It is noted that before the accident the plane gave an emergency signal. The media cited bird collisions as the likely cause of the tragedy. However, this information has not been officially confirmed.
It is known that there were five crew members on board the plane. However, the data on passengers differs – the media write about 67 or 105 people. Preliminarily, 12 people survived.
52 rescuers and 11 units of equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan are working at the scene of the plane crash.
Let us recall that on September 28, a Mi-8 helicopter of a private company from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province crashed in northern Pakistan. There were about 14 passengers in this helicopter, including pilots from the Russian Federation.
