The Moscow City Court sentenced US citizen Gene Spector to 15 years in a maximum security colony on charges of “espionage,” Mediazona reports.
The process took place behind closed doors, so the details of the case remain unknown. It is only known that the court announced the introductory and operative parts of the verdict.
Previously, Spector was fined more than 14 million rubles and sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for a bribery mediation case. So, according to investigators, in 2015-2016 he allegedly transferred bribes in favor of pharmaceutical companies Prommed Rus, Medpolimerprom and R-Pharm through Russian official Anastasia Alekseeva. In return, the companies received support, including avoiding a ban on drug production.
As RTVI notes, Spector was arrested on espionage charges in August 2023.
Spector was born in St. Petersburg and then moved to the United States, where he received citizenship. In August 2023, he was arrested on espionage charges.
We remind you that in Russia a man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for trying to poison the military.
Earlier, a court in the Russian Federation found a Russian citizen guilty of high treason who planned to join the ranks of the Freedom of Russia Legion (LSR). The court sentenced him to 10 years in prison in a maximum security colony.
