The Russian cargo ship Ursa Major sank in the Mediterranean Sea.
Ursa Major (“Big Dipper”) left St. Petersburg on December 11, and its final destination was Vladivostok. Officially, they allegedly transported empty containers.
The Russian Mediazona reported that Russia sent the bulk carriers Sparta and Ursa Major to the Mediterranean Sea, accompanied by three large landing ships, presumably to evacuate a Russian military base in Syria.
There were allegedly only 16 people on board. Two sailors are considered missing, while 14 more were rescued and taken to Cartagena, Spain.
Russian media note that Ursa Major has been transporting cargo for many years on the so-called “Syrian Express” – the route for supplying Russian troops to Syria.
