Two Transcarpathians intended to transport three men liable for military service – residents of Donbass, Dnepropetrovsk and Kiev regions – to Romania through Tisa.
The State Border Service said on December 23 that the border guards tried to stop the Volkswagen T5, which one of the ferrymen was using to take their clients to the border, at the checkpoint. However, the driver of the car ignored the demand and drove at high speed with a dangerous maneuver in the direction of the village of Nizhnyaya Apsha.
Border guards began to pursue the fugitive, who finally lost control and drove into a concrete pillar at high speed. Then he ran out of the car and tried to escape.
When they caught up with the driver, it turned out that he was wearing a police uniform. Lovky hoped that this, together with painting the car “to look like a collector’s vehicle,” would distract law enforcement officers at checkpoints.
One of the “clients” paid 12 thousand dollars for the trip; another’s mother bought a “ticket” for 9.5 thousand euros.
