A curfew is a period in which people are forbidden to go on the street and in other public places without specially issued passes and identification.
In Ukraine, penalties for breaking the curfew can be tightened. The Cabinet of Ministers submitted the corresponding bill to the Rada. This was said by the permanent representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnichuk.
The Cabinet of Ministers submitted to the Rada bill No. 12354, which proposes to strengthen the liability for violation of the requirements of a special legal regime – martial law.
Melnichuk clarified that the document provides for the addition of a new article 210-2 to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses (CUAO). Thus, administrative responsibility can be imposed for violating the requirements of martial law. We are talking about administrative responsibility for:
-
violation of entry (entrance), staying in populated areas where general forced evacuation is carried out, in the absence of specially issued passes or certificates;
-
violation of citizens’ curfew.
They also want to make changes to the Administrative Code that would give the police the right to carry out administrative detention against violators.
It should be noted that the text of the bill is not yet available on the Rada website.
Earlier, the media reported that the government would impose separate administrative penalties for curfew violations.
Since September 23, a new type of pass for transportation during the curfew is valid in Kyiv.
