Russia plans to intensify military operations in the Zaporozhye region and on the right bank of the Kherson region.
This was reported today, December 23, by RBC-Ukraine, citing informed sources.
According to the publication, the Ukrainian military suggests that the main attack in the Zaporozhye region could be aimed at the Pyatikhatki area, parallel to the Dnieper River. Additionally, possible enemy actions in the Gulyai-Polye area.
At the same time, according to sources, the Russians’ readiness for an offensive on the right bank of the Kherson region is higher than for intensification in Zaporozhye.
According to sources, the decision to attack Kherson has already been made. The operation will be supervised by the commander of the Russian airborne forces, Mikhail Teplinsky, the publication notes.
It is noted that it is planned to involve up to 4 thousand Russian attack aircraft to complete the tasks, in particular:
- 61st separate brigade of Russian Marines;
- 7th Airborne Assault Division.
These Russian units were already retreating from the Kherson region in the fall of 2022, which adds symbolism to the operation, the publication notes.
Russian plans are reported to be dependent on weather conditions:
- to get to the right bank of the Kherson region, the occupiers need to cross the Dnieper, since all the bridges in this area have been destroyed. This creates the need to use boats or build crossings;
- After the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, part of the Dnieper territory turned into swampy areas that freeze in winter, which can facilitate the enemy’s passage.
In the Kherson region, the Russians tried to break through to the right bank of the Dnieper. At the end of November, their sabotage and reconnaissance groups were repelled not far from the Antonovsky Bridge from the direction of Oleshki.
It is worth adding that the Defense Forces of southern Ukraine reported in their Telegram channel today that during the course of 24 hours in the Dnieper direction, infidels resorted to assaulting the island zone at the mouth of the Dnieper four times.
The attempts were unsuccessful, the aggressor returned to his original positions with losses, the Defense Forces noted.
At the same time, in the Gulyai-Polye and Orekhovsky directions, the enemy is conducting reconnaissance, continuing to train future groups of attack aircraft and replenishing ammunition supplies.
