The Nizhankovichi-Malkhovichi checkpoint can handle up to 7 thousand people and 4 thousand vehicles every day.
The seventh checkpoint for traffic on the Nizhankovichi-Malkhovichi road was opened at the Polish-Ukrainian border. The head of the Lviv Regional Police Department, Maxim Kozitsky, announced this on Facebook on Saturday, December 21.
He recalled that this project was first discussed in 2009, and the foundation was laid in 2021.
“Up to 7 thousand people and 4 thousand cars will pass here every day the Polish side fully financed this project worth 145 million zlotys (almost 1.5 billion UAH – ed.) the head of OVA .
According to Kozicki, the new checkpoint will relieve congestion on other routes, such as Medika-Shegini and Korcova-Krakovec, and will also improve transport opportunities for business and humanitarian aid.
He thanked the government and citizens of Poland for fully funding the project.
Earlier, Prime Minister Denis Shmigal announced the next steps to develop border infrastructure.
It has also been reported that Ukraine plans to seriously increase the capacity of its border with the EU until 2030.
