Mountain rescuers warn that due to high temperatures in the mountains, conditions for skiing outside established ski areas pose risks, and the possibility of avalanches is very high.
An avalanche in the Bulgarian Pirin Mountains in the south of the country has killed one person and injured another. The local media wrote about it on Friday, December 20.
It was learned that the incident took place around fifteen o’clock on Friday.
“Three young men were skiing and snowboarding when an avalanche occurred, only one of them managed to avoid the snow, the other two were caught in the snow,” the journalists pointed out.
It was learned that the person who remained unharmed had avalanche equipment and was able to dig out his friends.
“However, despite his efforts, one of the men, aged 25, did not survive,” the newspaper wrote.
Another snowboarder was injured, but according to preliminary estimates, his life is not in danger.
Immediately after the alarm, a rescue group of eight people and a dog was sent to the scene of the emergency. They suggested that the avalanche was triggered by freeriders descending.
