Ukraine returned the bodies of another 503 fallen defenders.
Based on the results of the repatriation measures, 403 dead were returned to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government from Donetsk, 12 from Lugansk, 57 from Zaporozhye, and 31 from morgues on the territory of the Russian Federation. The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported this on December 20.
The bodies of the victims will be handed over to law enforcement officials and forensic experts to identify their identities.
The fallen defenders were returned as a result of the joint work of employees of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Central Directorate of Civil-Military Cooperation of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Ombudsman, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Persons Missing in Special Circumstances, the DS and the Defense of Ukraine. headquarters expressed gratitude for the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine is identifying the bodies of those allegedly killed in Il-76 handed over by Russia. The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War confirmed that during the latest repatriation activities to Ukraine from Russia, the remains of the dead, requiring additional identification, were transferred.
