The investigation began after a relative of a missing Cuban living in Spain suspected that messages from his phone had been tampered with. They said he had met another woman, was leaving Spain and was going to get rid of his phone. A few weeks after the suspects were arrested, a body believed to be the missing person was discovered.
Police emphasized the important role of the images in determining the location of the vehicle, solving the crime and proving the guilt of the killers.
