The court chose a preventive measure for the commander of the military unit of the 211th pontoon-bridge brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleg Poberezhnyuk.
The Ternopil city district court took the officer into custody for two months. An alternative to a bail of 908 thousand is provided. UAH Prosecutors filed such a petition and the court granted it. And the high command has already removed Poberezhnyuk from official duties. The Office of the Prosecutor General reported this on Telegram.
Earlier, Poberezhnyuk was informed of suspicion of abuse of official position (Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), since he involved four subordinates in the construction of his house in the Khmelnitsky region.
Investigators are checking possible illegal actions of brigade officers against subordinates. The investigation under Part 5 of Art. 426-1 (exceeding power or official powers by a military official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Let us remind you that the leadership of the 211th Pontoon-Bridge Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Support Forces mocked the soldiers – they demanded money from them, beat them, and threatened to throw them “for meat.” One of the fighters said that he was tied to a wooden cross and physically abused.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, sent an inspection to the 211th pontoon-bridge brigade of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces.
And the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in September they had already carried out an inspection in the brigade regarding certain facts. And based on its results, criminal proceedings were initiated.
