The West should support Ukraine in resisting Russian aggression and give it a strong position, the British prime minister believes.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke on the phone with US President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday, December 19, about the need to support Ukraine. This was reported on the British government website.
Starmer was noted to have discussed global conflicts with Trump and reiterated the need for allies to support Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression and give Ukraine the “strongest possible position.”
The interlocutors confirmed their joint desire to strengthen the close historical relationship between Great Britain and the United States. The politicians also expressed hope for cooperation on issues of international security and ensuring economic growth and prosperity, the press release said.
In a conversation with Trump, the British prime minister also noted the need to work together to ensure peace and security in the Middle East.
The parties agreed to maintain contact and hold a meeting “at the earliest opportunity.”
