The future American president extended an invitation to the leaders of Argentina and El Salvador. Javier Miley has already announced that he is coming.
US President-elect Donald Trump invited Argentine Presidents Javier Miley and Salvador Naiba Bukele to his inauguration. AP reported this on Tuesday, December 17.
According to the agency, Miley has already announced her plans to travel to Washington, breaking the American political tradition in which foreign heads of state are absent during the transition of power in the United States.
Miley’s spokesman Manuel Adorni said Trump had invited the Argentine leader, noting that it was the first time such an invitation had been sent to a president from a South American country.
El Salvador’s ambassador to the United States also said an invitation has been sent to his country’s President, Nayib Bukele, but he has not yet decided whether to accept it, citing security concerns.
According to the Associated Press, so far no head of state has made an official visit to the United States for the inauguration.
It was previously reported that Trump invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to his inauguration in January, but he is unlikely to attend.
At the same time, Trump said that he did not invite Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to his inauguration, but added that if Zelensky wanted to come, he would be happy to welcome him.
