The Israel Defense Forces attacked military targets in Syria.
On the night of December 16, IDF aircraft carried out powerful strikes on military installations located in the port city of Tartus in Syria. The city is home to a naval base used by the Russian army and a military ship repair yard. Targets in the Syrian province of Latakia were also attacked. This was reported by The Times of Israel and Newsru.co.il.
Airstrikes by the Israeli Air Force also hit targets in the Syrian province of Latakia.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says Israeli warplanes struck a number of targets, including air defense units and surface-to-surface missile bases.
The Observatory calls it “the biggest impacts on the coast since airstrikes began in 2012.” Israel has not officially commented on the attack.
Israeli media reported that the airstrikes hit facilities associated with the Russian Russian army – a base used by the Russian navy, as well as a military ship repair yard.
