There are currently 386,782 Ukrainians in the Czech Republic with temporary protection. Czech authorities estimate that around 60% of refugees plan to stay in the Czech Republic after the war.
The Czech Republic has not recorded an increase in the number of refugees from Ukraine amid widespread shelling and winter. ct24 reported this on Sunday, December 15, citing Czech Interior Minister Vit Rakušan.
Rakušan noted that the Czech Republic expects an increase in the number of applications for temporary protection from Ukrainians in November-December, due to the intensification of attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
“And it appears that the number has dropped from 2,000 a week, which we had in October, to about 1,700 a week,” he added.
At the same time, Rakušan assured that the Czech Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to try to support internal migration in Ukraine.
“This means that people who have to leave the eastern part of Ukraine, where there is an actual war going on on purpose, should move to the western part of Ukraine, which logistically can still withstand it,” said minister
It was previously reported that Ukrainian refugees in Lithuania will be given a one-time payment of 176 euros.
Meanwhile, in Norway, the automatic acceptance of protection for Ukrainian refugees from six regions – Lviv, Volyn, Transcarpathian, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil and Rivne regions has been cancelled.
