Two Russian tankers are sinking in the Kerch Strait.
Powerful waves broke these ships in half. The tankers Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239 have 13 and 14 crew members, respectively. Russian sailors are on the decks and have been waiting for help for more than four hours. Russia sent a rescue tug and a helicopter to the scene. The Russian agency Interfax reports this.
One of the ships carried more than 4 thousand tons of fuel oil. Oil products flow into the sea. There is a possibility of an environmental disaster.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations announced “damage” to the Volgoneft-212 vessel.
Meanwhile, a video appeared online of one of the ships going under water.
Let us recall that in December, in the Baltic Sea, the crew of a Russian Navy ship used signal ammunition against a German Air Force helicopter.
