Two Russian tankers – Volganeft-212 and Volganeft-239 – sank in the Kerch Strait a few kilometers from the coast. Russian media wrote this in relation to eyewitnesses on Sunday, December 15.
It is indicated that in the morning strong waves broke the ships in half. First, the ship Volganeft-212, carrying more than 4 tons of fuel oil, was damaged, an hour later – Volganeft-239. There are 13 crew members on board each tanker. Their fate is still unknown.
The previous day, a typhoon warning was issued in the region. Wind gusts up to 22 m/s.
