In Nikolaev, an attacker was detained who, by order of Russia, at the beginning of the month set fire to an electrical substation that powered an entire microdistrict of the city.
This was reported today, December 11, by the press service of the SBU and the National Police.
It is noted that a city resident received an order from the Russian special services via messenger. To receive a monetary reward, he sent a video report on the work done to the curator.
The attacker purchased a flammable substance in advance, which he then doused the substation with and set it on fire. He filmed his actions with a mobile phone camera as proof of the work done. After sending the video report to the curator, he deleted all the files, the police said.
The identity of the attacker was established, in particular, using CCTV footage.
During the search they confiscated from him:
- mobile phones;
- bank card;
- other physical evidence of criminal activity.
He was informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – sabotage. The sanction of the article provides for 15 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment with confiscation of property. Currently, the suspect has been chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to bail. The pre-trial investigation continues.
