German business can benefit greatly from current investments in the Ukrainian economy, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is convinced.
The German government is allocating 70 million euros for small thermal power plants, boilers, generators and solar power plants and other systems in Ukraine so that the state can more confidently go through the winter in the face of attacks of Russia in the energy sector. He also noted that Germany will continue to strengthen the Ukrainian air defense system.
“By the end of the year, the sixth IRIS-T SLM system, additional launchers for the Patriot and an additional Gepard will be delivered And this will continue next year,” assured the German Chancellor.
Also during his speech, Olaf Scholz addressed European business and emphasized that investments in the Ukrainian economy are profitable.
“If you invest in Ukraine now and in the coming years, you are investing in the future member of the EU,” Scholz said.
The Chancellor noted that when the war in Ukraine ends, the whole of Europe will see what prospects for economic growth and opportunities for development exist in Ukraine. Similar situations, he said, “were previously only encountered in the Central and Eastern European countries that joined the EU in the last two decades,” and the German economy played a big role in these success stories.
“There are about 2,000 German companies operating in Ukraine. Many of them are planning further investments.
He added that Ukraine culturally and politically already belongs to Europe, and, having gone through the necessary procedures, will definitely become a member state of the EU, “with all the subsequent rights and responsibilities.”
Total aid to Ukraine from Germany reached 37 billion euros during the entire invasion of the Russian Federation, which is the most among all European states.
