Since the beginning of the current epidemic period, 1,182,961 Ukrainians have fallen ill with ARVI, influenza and COVID-19. The border of the epidemic in the country has not been crossed.
“These numbers are 18.8% lower than last year, the country did not exceed the epidemic threshold for the incidence of ARVI, influenza and COVID-19,” the ministry notes.
The Ministry of Health recalled that the most effective prevention of COVID-19 and influenza is annual vaccination, especially for people at risk. The flu vaccine does not protect against COVID-19 and vice versa. Vaccination against these diseases can be done on the same day or at recommended intervals. COVID-19 vaccinations remain free to the public.
Omicron-specific Comirnaty vaccines from Pfizer are used to vaccinate adults and children. You can get vaccinated by contacting your family doctor. The flu vaccine is not included in the list of free vaccinations, but is recommended, especially for people at risk.
It was previously reported that two strains of influenza will appear in Ukraine this year – A and B, both of which are dangerous and cause complications.
