On December 11, the national police, with the assistance of Ukrzaliznytsia, carried out investigative actions into the case of officials’ abuses in international passenger transportation.
As the department reported, we are talking about criminal proceedings, which are being investigated on the facts of abuses by a group of officials of a division of Ukrzaliznytsia in the maintenance and transportation of passengers by international trains.
The actions of the defendants led to significant damage and the creation of an artificial shortage of tickets for the most popular routes on free sale. Early in the morning, operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police, Kyiv police investigators and employees of the Solomensky District Prosecutor’s Office, with the involvement of employees of the Corporate Security Department of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC, carry out investigative actions at the places of residence of employees involved in criminal schemes, in the office premises of the structural unit of the Ukrzaliznytsia. In addition, investigative actions will take place on international trains during their departure and arrival. We ask passengers to treat the situation with understanding and assist law enforcement officers in the performance of their official duties, the National Police said in a statement.
They promised to provide all the details upon completion of the investigative actions.
Journalist Evgeny Plinsky reported that the case concerns the creation of an organized crime group, which was engaged in extorting money from train conductors and supervising ticketless transportation in the direction of the EU.
According to him, the organizer was the head of UZ trade unions Ivan Suprunenko and the leadership of a structure called the “Reserve of Conductors.” In short, the scheme concerns the distribution of conductors on trains according to directions. If you are an ordinary conductor and not involved in the scheme, you will only work on trains in the direction of the front line.
If you are in the scheme, you must pay the management of the “Reserve of Conductors” for distribution on trains in the EU. From such conductors of bribe-takers, a train is formed, for example, “to Warsaw”, where the position of train chief is sold separately. He’s a cashier. One train brought the organizers 3-5 thousand dollars. only for the sale of positions to conductors. The conductors reflected this money due to the transportation of people without tickets, the transfer of smuggled shipments of iPhones and the transfer of passengers. The head of the train, who was supposed to stop all this, acted as a cashier and was in charge. That is, by investing 3-5 thousand dollars in conductors of an international train, the flight became commercially corrupt. And how many trains and conductors knock people off there at night – that’s their business,” Plinsky wrote on his Facebook.
Today, development and implementation has begun for such trains and organizers, which the DSR has been leading for a long time. At the same time, there was full cooperation from the management of Ukrzaliznytsia.
