President Vladimir Zelensky spoke with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, discussing specific ways to achieve peace, noting the need for intensive cooperation between world leaders ahead of negotiations in December. The head of state announced this in Telegram on Tuesday, December 10th.
Zelensky discussed several topics with Rutte, including recent contacts with President Trump and President Macron in Paris.
He emphasized the importance of intensive cooperation between groups of world leaders to make decisions that will ensure a lasting and just peace.
“Peace must be our common victory – Ukraine, America, Europe and all our partners only want this war – no one else,” the president emphasized.
Zelensky said the main goal remains to end Russia’s aggression next year. He also praised the position of Emmanuel Macron and other European leaders in strengthening security on the continent.
Zelensky stressed the importance of European unity: “Europe needs a clear and unique position that will benefit everyone.”
He added that coordination among partners will continue to ensure that solutions are effective, especially through more frequent meetings and information sharing.
Rutte has previously said that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is not interested in peace and seeks to seize more territory in Ukraine.
