The restrictions imposed by the court on the officer are night house arrest; the prosecutor’s office will request a stricter preventive measure.
The court chose a preventive measure for the mayor of Netishin, Khmelnitsky region, Alexander Suprunyuk, who was suspected of official negligence, which led to losses worth UAH 6.1 million in the purchase of drones. In particular, a restriction such as night house arrest is provided for an officer. The press service of the Khmelnitsky Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported this in a comment to Ukrinform on Monday, December 9.
The prosecutor’s office will request a more severe preventive measure for the mayor and his removal from office.
The regional prosecutor’s office previously reported that in 2024, the city council bought a thousand quadcopters for more than UAH 16 million to supply the Defense Forces. Almost a third of this amount, namely UAH 6.1 million, was taken by the contractor, who significantly “reduced” the cost of the drones by installing navigation equipment on them that is half the price and of lower quality – video cameras and video transmitters.
The mayor signed the acceptance certificates without verifying that the equipment provided by the contractor complies with the specifications. The mayor was declared suspected of official negligence (part 2 of article 367 of the Criminal Code).
As we wrote earlier, London announced on Tuesday, November 19, its intention to allocate 9.5 million for the purchase of attack and reconnaissance UAVs for Ukraine.
