Defense enterprises of Ukraine were under hacker attack.
Hackers from the UAC-0185 group attempted to attack Ukrainian defense companies, as well as the Security and Defense Forces, by sending phishing emails. The State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.
These phishing emails were disguised as official messages from the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. There was an invitation to a conference that took place on December 5 and was dedicated to the products of domestic enterprises of the military-industrial complex according to NATO technical standards.
The email also contained a hyperlink “The attachment contains important information for your participation.” Computers can become infected if you follow this link and open the attached files.
The State Committee for Special Communications noted that the hacker group UAC-0185 has been active at least since 2022. Cybercriminals focused on stealing credentials for messengers Signal, Telegram, WhatsApp and military systems DELTA, TENETA, and Kropiva.
These hackers have previously attempted to gain unauthorized remote access to the computers of defense industry employees and defense forces.
Let us recall that in October, the cyber corps of military intelligence of Ukraine carried out an attack on the IT infrastructure of the national operator of the mobile satellite communication system Morsvyazsputnik. The Russian state system for controlling the movement of maritime transport was also dealt a blow.
