The head of the Pentagon and the head of the Ukrainian defense department discussed plans for military assistance to Ukraine and preparations for Ramstein.
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin on Sunday, December 8, spoke by phone with his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov, where the heads of departments discussed the latest developments in the field of war and security assistance in Ukraine. This was stated in a statement by Pentagon Speaker Patrick Ryder.
Austin is said to have notified Umerov of plans for military aid to Ukraine from the United States to counter Russian aggression. The ministers also discussed planning for the next meeting of the Contact Group in the Ramstein format and “further strong support for Ukraine from international partners,” the report said.
The two defense chiefs vowed to remain in close contact.
As reported, a day before the Pentagon announced a nearly billion dollar aid package to Ukraine.
Before this, it was reported that the United States will provide Ukraine with a new military aid package worth $725 million.
