A new bill to impeach Yoon Seok Yeol will be proposed next Wednesday. It can be voted on next Saturday.
In South Korea, the main opposition Democratic Party said it will not give up its attempt to impeach President Yoon Seok-yol after losing a parliamentary vote on Saturday, December 7, Yonhap news agency reported.
It was noted that the leader of the opposition party, Lee Zhe-meng, vowed to achieve Yun’s impeachment at any cost. He also publicly apologized for not achieving the “result you wanted,” CNA reported.
The opposition said it will propose a new bill to impeach Yoon next Wednesday. It will be voted on next Saturday.
Meanwhile, Yoon’s party said it would find a “more orderly and responsible” way to resolve the crisis than impeaching the president.
It will be recalled that on Saturday the president survived an impeachment motion that received 195 votes, less than the 200 threshold required for a vote.
In the report, on December 3, the President of South Korea declared martial law in the country. He named the reason as the opposition, which, according to him, is an “anti-state force” that paralyzes the work of the country. The decision sparked clashes with law enforcement officials and the military near the parliament building.
South Korea’s parliament has voted to end martial law. The opposition called on Yoon Seok Yeol to resign.
