Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets said that by the New Year there could be positive news on the return of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
He said this on December 7 during the United News telethon.
At the same time, Lubinets emphasized that this information should not be taken as an announcement of an exchange, because Russia could once again disrupt the agreements.
Regarding the issue of the return of prisoners of war, the main mediator is the United Arab Emirates. There is communication, I really hope that by the New Year we will have positive news.
But you can never be 100% sure when you expect an agreement from the Russian Federation. You can reach an agreement, and tomorrow, without any warning, this agreement will be canceled,” the ombudsman said.
