Since the start of martial law in Ukraine, about 50 deaths have been recorded in illegal crossings of the state border.
In Romania, two cases of male deaths were found near the Ukrainian border. One was found in the mountains, the other in the Tisa River. The State Border Guard Service reported this on Friday, December 6.
One of them, a citizen of Ukraine, died in the mountains during an illegal border crossing. According to the Romanian border police, the body of a man born in 1995 was found by rescuers 200 meters from the border.
The Ukrainian, along with two companions, tried to cross the border in the mountainous area of the Ivano-Frankivsk region. Due to bad weather, fog, snow half a meter thick, and frost, the man was unable to cope with the conditions and probably died of hypothermia. His companions escaped because of a complex search and rescue operation that lasted 22 hours.
Rescuers from SPJ Salvamont Maramures said they used two teams working from different sides of the mountain because the weather made it difficult to use aircraft.
In addition, the body of a man was found in the Tisza River near the Romanian village of Kimpulung la Tisa with signs of prolonged exposure to water. The identity of the deceased is now known.
Since the start of martial law in Ukraine, about 50 deaths have been recorded in illegal crossings of the state border.
Border guards of Ukraine urge citizens to refrain from such attempts, drawing attention to the danger of such actions.
We remind you that in Transcarpathia a man is in prison who has been wandering in the mountains for three days, trying to cross the Romanian border illegally.
Also in Transcarpathia, border guards detained 16 evaders trying to leave Ukraine for Hungary and Romania. All the detainees are men, people from different regions of Ukraine.
