The Russian Federation and Belarus may sign an agreement on security guarantees, allegedly involving the use of nuclear weapons.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin said Russia and Belarus could sign a security guarantee agreement on December 6, allegedly involving nuclear weapons. He said this at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the so-called “union state,” media reports.
According to the head of the Kremlin, the new agreement “refers to the mutual obligation to ensure the defense, protect the sovereignty, independence and constitutional order of the Russian Federation and Belarus, the integrity and inviolability of the territories and the external bordering the “union state.”
“And with the participation of all available forces and means. We are talking, in particular, about Russia’s tactical nuclear weapons, which are located, at the proposal of the President of Belarus (dictator Alexander Lukashenko– ed.), on the territory of the Republic of Belarus,” Putin added.
As BelTA writes, the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko turned to Putin with a request to deploy the Russian so-called Oreshnik system on the country’s territory.
According to Lukashenko, such a decision will strengthen the defense of both the Union State in the face of an “increased threat from the West” and the territory of Belarus.
Putin replied that he considers it possible to place Oreshnik on the territory of Belarus in the second half of 2025.
According to the head of the Kremlin, the targets of Oreshnik’s destruction from the territory of Belarus from the “probable enemy” will be determined by the military-political leadership of Minsk.
Let’s remember that Putin, by his decree, approved the updated nuclear doctrine of Russia. The document was called On the approval of the fundamentals of the state policy of the Russian Federation in the field of nuclear deterrence published on the official portal of legal information.
